Cont IO-550-N

Big, high performance 6 cylinder engine, developing 310Hp @2700rpm, the Cont IO-550-N is as efficient as it is powerful.

N882CD has 1741 on the hobbs. Older Cirrus planes didn’t have tachometers so the engine actually has anywhere from 10 to 20% less time.

TBO is 2000 hours but these previous generations NA engines are known to fly well past TBO, with some owners flying them past 3000 hours before voluntarily overhauling them.

The engine on 882CD requires about 1 quart of oil every 20 hours, a testament to how well this engine has been run and maintained. Borescopes have always been clean and compressions are all normal. The last blackstone oil report was “excellent”.

In cruise LOP, at 9500’ CHTs stay below 280 while cruising at 160KTAS burning 12.5 gal/hour.

A new battery was installed 4/23 and all the spark plugs have been changed in addition to several CHT sensors.
